TVNZ 1News Investigate what Lifeguards do

It's not just about keeping between the flags. Our Lifeguards are the first responders on our beaches and assist in many other areas within the community including community education and events, providing medical assistance and tasked to assist police and emergency services with Search and Rescue assistance.

Surf Lifeguards are volunteers who give up their spare time to patrol our beaches and save lives for no monetary gain. They are being asked to do more with less. Do we support them enough?
