Northern Region Surf League and Interdistrict Teams announced
Congratulations to all the Orewa members selected in Northern Region Surf League and Interdistrict Teams for the season.
Selection criteria is very tough for all the teams and it is a real achievement to be selected. We had a number of others on the borderline of selection who just missed out - hard luck to those and better luck next year!!

Surf Boat Series round 2 win for Macca's Little Oars on 2 January at Whangamata. Brearna Franich, Nicole Keinzley, Nicole Jones, Nastassia Randell and sweep Mark McCarthny headed off the previous champs to take first place in the Open Women's division. Round 1 of the competition in Wellington during December saw Orewa crew of Nikki Jones, Amie Thomason, Becky Thomason, Sam Rogers & Steph Clarke, with sweep Stu Handford, placed 2nd in the Open Women's division.
Round 3 is scheduled for 4-5 Feb at Waihi and round 4 The Piha Big Wave Classic 25 Feb 12.

Welcome to our newest lifeguards
Congratulations to Tamsin, Maddison, Ashlee, Scott, Ollie, Samara, Sam, Nikki, Tiffany, Morgan, Amber, Jazmin, Cole and Cameron for qualifying their Surf Lifeguard Award on Saturday 29th Oct at Red Beach. They all did a great job of their exam. We look forward to seeing them in their red and yellows on the beach, and in their Orewa colours at carnivals

Faron Turner Lifeguard of the Year
Congratulations to Faron Turner who was recognised as Lifeguard of the Year at the Northern Region Awards of Excellence ceremony.This award is richly deserved by Faron. He recorded 115 hours of voluntary patrol this season, as well as spending a number of weekends on call as a Duty Officer for Northern Region and is a member of the Club Executive Committee. He is heavily involved with Instruction and Education of lifeguards across the Northern Region and New Zealand and spends an amazing amount of time running courses and exams throughout the year. Faron also won this prestigious award in 2006.
